- A 41-year-old soldier from Fort Riley, Kan., faces charges in Connecticut that he sexually assaulted the 13-year-old daughter of a friend. He had arranged to meet the girl on Facebook, picked her up at her father’s house and took her to a motel. - An Alabama jury watched a videotaped confession of a homeless, Iraq vet with mental health issues who kidnapped, robbed and murdered an 18-year-old Auburn University freshman. - A Georgia jury is deliberating in the case of a 42-year-old tenant who strangled his 70-year-old widowed landlady, covered her in acid and hid her in the trunk of her own car. - A private on trial for murder in the Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., “rogue platoon” case, pleaded his innocence. “I want to tell you soldier to soldier that I did not commit murder,” he said in court. - About 4,000 people attended the funeral for a veteran MP turned Riverside, Calif., cop who was gunned down during a traffic stop. “Ryan is looking down right now, saying, ‘Is all this for me?'” said his mother. “Having Ryan watching my back is what brought me home,” said one of his buddies. “We were sleeping in the sand, without showers, eating MREs. - Former Army Lt. Dan Choi, the Iraq war veteran and West Point graduate who has become the face of the movement to lift DADT was arrested at a White House protest.
