Producer/director Peter Berg, the force behind two recent movies on far ends of the military spectrum — 2013’s “Lone Survivor” and 2012’s Battleship — will add to his in-uniform resume with an eight-part documentary series on special operators set for a fall debut on the History Channel.
The series is among several debut projects for the newly launched Film 45, a documentary-focused studio Berg will operate alongside Film 44, which developed the “Friday Night Lights” TV series in addition to the above movies and other offerings.
Similar to “Lone Survivor,” the new series will feature first-person accounts from special operators, supplemented by re-enacted combat sequences. No name or start date for the series has been released.
Film 45’s early offerings also include “Call & Answer,” a program in development that would feature presentations from high-level leaders (including former presidents), veterans and entrepreneurs designed to assist current and former service members with leadership skills and navigating life out of uniform, Deadline.com reported.
Berg’s work with the military community has gone beyond what appears on screen, including work with the USO projects and special screenings of his films at military bases.
Not in the mood for another military doc? The production house also will release a feature-length piece on singing superstar Rihanna, whose military connections are thin, at best.
