Elmo and his friends in the USO’s Sesame Street tour took some time out to celebrate the Army’s birthday while visiting Vicenza. The free, 30-minute show, “Katie’s Family Transitions to Civilian Life,” features new songs, choreography and messages of support for military families to address this common reality for military families. After more than 100 tense minutes, German troops in Kabul hit the roof when their team scored the winning goal in Sunday’s World Cup game against Argentina. “The reaction from the troops was unbelievable,” said Col. Achim Ruetzel, chief of the Civil Aviation Transition Branch. “Everyone was jumping around with his arms in the air and everybody was – almost kissing each other, I would say.” A few U.S. troops were also watching the game at the German troops’ invitation, Ruetzel told Outside the Wire on Tuesday. “Obviously, they were all cheering for the German team, not for Argentina,” he…

(To be sure, newspaper reporter was not far behind at fifth-worst.) The survey, aimed at those considering different careers, arrived at these results by ranking each occupation across five categories, which seemed to be a mix of government statistics and subjective…

President Obama has called upon Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to step down, but he has also stressed the importance of resolving the issue through diplomacy instead of military intervention. But on Tuesday, CNN reported that the U.S. military has begun a review of what capabilities it could bring to bear on Syria should the president order…
